Unusual Planet Dubbed WASP-193b Discovered #

Astronomers have found a peculiar exoplanet called WASP-193b, located 1,200 light-years away from Earth. This planet is about 50% larger than Jupiter but is surprisingly the second lightest ever found. It belongs to a group of planets called “puffy Jupiters,” which are mainly composed of light gases. WASP-193b could be instrumental in studying atypical planetary formation. The planet’s mass was challenging to calculate due to its light density. Despite its large size, WASP-193b has a mass that is only 14% of Jupiter’s. Its extended atmosphere makes it an excellent target for studying atmospheric effects and understanding the mystery of puffy Jupiters.
